Personal Health And Health Care - 2141 Words

Compared to public health, personal health is focused on maintaining the health of an individual patient. It is a service based practice. Personal health professional such as doctors, nurses, and specialists aim to improve the health of an individual through diagnostics and treatment in return for payment. Their optimal goal is to free and cure the individual’s body from disease or abnormality. Personal healthcare is provided at hospitals and clinics. Personal health is at an individual level thus it is unique for everyone, however, an individual health can affect the greater community. For example, people who live an unhealthy lifestyle such as eating fast food daily and not exercising, may become obese and develop many othe r health issues including depression. Therefore, ones physical health of obesity can lead to depression, a mental health. A change these three care providing systems should implement is be located in the same facility and work closely with each other to provide care. In this manner, patients can access all three care providers in the same location and this can reduce unnecessary transportation and redundant care cost. Personal care and behavioral care should definitely be located in the same facility and both treatment should even be provided by the same professional. In this way, care providers and patients will become more organized and reduce unnecessary costs. Care providers can communicate with each other and implement plans to cure a patient. SAMHSA-HRSA Center for Integrated Health Solutions (CIHS) outlined a continuum of collaboration/integration, ranging from separate systems and settings with little communication between them, to PH/BH co-location with some de gree of collaboration in screening and treatment planning, to fully integrated care, manifested when behavioral and physical health care providers and other providers function as a true team in a shared practice and with a shared vision, and both providers
